This was done with pastel pencils on Claire Fontaine Pastel Mat. I was inspired to paint this beautiful child, my great niece, by the fact that she is named after my mother, but also by this adorable pose. I begin with white pencil as a base and build and mix layers of color on that to achieve the colors I need.
