I spent weeks studying the sunflowers I brought home from the field. Somehow, their radiance never left them entirely. From the start they seemed fit for the task of abundance and well-equipped for provision in life and in their harvest. I had a hard time letting them go and wanted to show that even as life ebbed, they still appeared to me as having lived well, proudly, humbly preparing the way for next year's planting.
